Starbucks Closures

As you guys know, Starbucks will be closing 600 of their stores. Wondering if you're daily routine will be affected by the closures? Here's a quick snapshot of where the closings are located.

California: 88 Starbucks closing
Florida: 59 Starbucks closing
Hawaii: 5 Starbucks closing
Illinois: 25 Starbucks closing
Massachusetts: 7 Starbucks closing
New York: 39 Starbucks closing
Washington: 19 Starbucks closing (including 7 in Seattle proper)
Arizona, Washington DC, Delaware, New Hampshire, South Carolina, West Virginia: 1 Starbucks closing in each

Starbucks Ranks Fourth

While NYC may appear to be congested with Starbucks on just about every street corner, Dunkin Donut's comes in at No.1 on the the list of national retailers in the city. Starbucks has 235 stores in NYC, 186 of them located in Manhattan alone. wow.

Just a little Starbucks update. I mean this is Flats & Frappuccino's. What's a girl without a tall double chocolate chip frappuccino with chocolate syrup and extra whipped cream? Oops, maybe my addiction is unique =(.

ATTN: Starbucks Fans

Within the next year, Starbucks plans to close 600 stores, a dramatic increase from what was initially planned to be 100 closures. The stores were described as "not profitable and not projected to provide acceptable returns in the foreseeable future" by Starbucks in a 2006 statement. Starting the end of July and continuing into the middle of August, Starbucks is set to close seventy percent of the stores that were opened after the start of 2006, consequently affecting nearly 12,000 workers. According to Harold Schultz, the returned Starbucks chief executive, "when you walked into Starbucks you should be able to smell the aroma of coffee and ... you were kind of smelling burnt sandwiches, especially at breakfast". In May, Starbucks believed that a 28% decrease in its second quarter profit can in part be the result of increases in food and gas prices. They did not release the list of store closures, but with a Starbucks located on seemingly every major block, I do hope that it does not entirely ruin the daily Morning routine of it's faithful customers.
